Words Like 'Baal buddhi', 'Hypocrisy', and 'Khalistani' Banned In Parliament

Indian Parliament's Monsoon Session is set to begin from July 18, 2022. Ahead of the session, Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued a booklet mentioning the words that will be considered unparliamentary.

Ahead of the Monsoon Session which is set to begin on Monday, July 18, Lok Sabha Secretariat said in a booklet that the usage of words like 'Jumlajeevi', 'Baal buddhi', 'Covid spreader', 'Snoopgate', 'abused', 'ashamed', 'corrupt', 'betrayed', 'hypocrisy', 'drama', and 'incompetent' will be considered as unparliamentary in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. 

The booklet also mentions that the usage of other words like 'Shakuni', 'dictatorial', 'anarchist', 'taanashah', 'taanashahi', 'Jaichand', 'vinash purush', 'khoon se kheti', and 'Khalistani' is also banned in both the houses. 

Further, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has mentioned in the booklet that the usage of words like 'dohra charitra', 'nikamma', 'nautanki', 'dhindhora peetna', and 'behri sarkar' is also banned in both the houses.

Reactions of members in opposition 

In expunging words and expressions, the Rajya Sabha Chairman and the Lok Sabha speaker will have the last word. 

The diktat has sparked outrage among the members in opposition, as some of them reacted on Twitter. Trinamool's Derek O' Brien wrote, "Session begins in a few days GAG ORDER ISSUED ON MPs. Now, we will not be allowed to use these basic words while delivering a speech in #Parliament: Ashamed. Abused. Betrayed. Corrupt. Hypocrisy. Incompetent I will use all these words. Suspend me. Fighting for democracy." 

Shiv Sena's Priyanka Chaturvedi, MP Rajya Sabha, posted on Twitter, "Reminded of this meme. Agar karein toh karein kya, bolein toh bolein kya? Sirf, Wah Modi Ji wah ! Now seems like a reality!"

The list of words and expressions that are banned to be used in any manner in both the houses includes words in both English and Hindi languages. The words which are regarded as unparliamentary as per the booklet issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat includes 'Bloodshed', 'Bloody', 'Betrayed', 'ashamed', 'cheated', 'abused', 'chamcha', 'chamchagiri', 'chelas', 'childishness', 'corrupt', 'criminal', 'coward', 'crocodile tears', 'criminal', 'disgrace', 'drama', 'donkey', 'fudge', 'eyewash', 'hooliganism', 'hypocrisy', 'mislead', 'incompetent', 'lie', 'untrue', 'anarchist', 'girgit', 'gaddar', 'goons', 'ghadiyali ansu', 'apmaan', 'asatya', 'ahankaar', 'corrupt', 'kala din', 'kala bazaari', 'khareed farokht', 'danga', 'dalal', 'daadagiri', 'dohra charitra', 'bechara', 'bobcut', 'lollypop', 'vishwasghat', 'samvedanheen', 'foolish', 'pitthu', 'behri sarkar', and 'sexual harassment'.
