Weather Forecast: No relief from Heatwave in Delhi-NCR

As predicted by the IMD, the national capital will witness high temperatures after April 18.

On Wednesday, the Safdarjung Observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius in Delhi, which is five degrees above the normal temperature. The Safdarjung Observatory gathers the official weather data for Delhi. 

In reference to the predictions by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is likely to witness heatwave conditions from April 18. However, the national capital has been facing heatwave conditions since last week when the maximum temperature reached 39.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. By April 18, the mercury is expected to touch 42 degrees Celsius.

Weather forecast for April 14 

For Thursday, April 14, the IMD has forecasted the minimum temperature in Delhi to remain 22 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature may hover around 40 degrees Celsius. In Chandigarh, the minimum and the maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 25 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius respectively. The minimum and the maximum temperature in Lucknow are expected to hover around 26 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius respectively.

Weather report by the IMD 

As per IMD's previous report, there was a weak Western disturbance in the Himalayan region and a cyclonic circulation over Punjab which may result in providing relief from heatwave conditions in the plains. However, later it has been predicted that the maximum temperature is likely to touch 42 degrees Celsius. 

On Monday, the national capital witnessed a maximum temperature of 42.6 degrees Celsius, which is the highest ever to be recorded in April in the last five years. The mercury was recorded at 39.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, as per the IMD.
