According to the mythological beliefs, Lord Brahma had entrusted the responsibility of grooming the universe to Lord Vishwakarma. Lord Brahma  had complete faith in the art of his descendant Lord Vishwakarma. When Lord Brahma created the universe, it was in the shape of a giant egg. The creation originated from that egg. It is believed that later Lord Brahma placed the universe on the tongue of Sheshnaag.

The movement of Sheshnaag caused damage to the universe. Disturbed by this, Lord Brahma asked Lord Vishwakarma to sort it up. Lord Vishwakarma stabilized the universe by keeping Mount Meru in water. This creation ability and craftsmanship of Lord Vishwakarma has greatly impressed Lord Brahma. Since then, Lord Vishwakarma is believed as the world's first engineer and architect.
