Famous singer and composer Bappi Lahiri has passed away. He took his last breaths in a hospital in Mumbai. There is a wave of mourning in the film industry due to his death. Bappi Lahiri whose real name was Alokesh Lahiri, was born on 27 November 1952 in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. His father's name was Aparesh Lahiri and mother's name was Bansari Lahiri.
The Hospital's Statement
The hospital issued an official statement, confirming the death of Lahiri. The statement reads, “He was treated by Dr. Deepak Namjoshi. He was hospitalised in Criticare Hospital, Juhu for 29 days with this. He recovered well and was discharged home on 15 February. However, after a day at home, his health again deteriorated and he was brought back to Criticare hospital Juhu in a critical state and succumbed to his illness at about 11:45 pm. He had OSA for the last 1 year. He was admitted on multiple occasions to Criticare Hospital under treatment of Dr. Deepak Namjoshi and recovered on all occasions."
Know about Bappi Lahiri
Bappi Lahiri started playing tabla at the age of three. He learnt the tips and tricks from his father. Famous musician and singer Bappi Lahiri, who introduced Bollywood to Rock and Disco and made the whole country dance to his tune, acted in many big and small films. Bappi made his mark in the 80s by giving memorable songs to Bollywood.
Bappi wanted to become a musician from the age of 17 and SD Burman became his inspiration. Bappi used to listen to SD Burman's songs in his teens and used to riaz them. He got his first exposure in a Bengali film, Dadu (1972) and his first Bollywood film, Nanha Shikari (1973), for which he composed music. The film that established him in Bollywood was Tahir Hussain's Hindi film Zakhmi (1975).
