Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar is back with a new movie named “Ram Setu”. As per the teaser that has been released providing a glimpse to content of the film, the movie would hit the theatres around Diwali on October 25.
The trailer illustrates a plot related to the great mythological epic of Ramayana. In the story of Ramayana Ram Sethu was a floating bridge constructed by Vanar Sena which helped Lord Rama’s army to cross the sea and rescue Sita. Ram Sethu is actually a chain of limestone shoals between Pamban Island, also known as Rameswaram Island, off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, and Mannar Island, off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka.
In this movie, Akshay Kumar plays an archaeologist who is determined to discover and protect Ram Sethu. In the beginning of this less-than-a-minute-long teaser the actor could be found observing Rama Setu from a helicopter. He talks of having only three days to save Ram Setu providing a hint to the plot. He could be spotted diving deep into the sea all alone by wearing a special suit to see an underwater bridge in the later part of the teaser.
The film was shot in near Ooty, Daman and Diu and Mumbai. The action packed promo also projects the protagonist struggling through forests, muddy paths, explosion and bullets. The star-cast of the movie includes of Nassar as a strong personality, Nushratt Bharuccha, Jacqueline Fernandez and Satyadev Kancharana.
The movie was first declared on Diwali 2020 and its poster portrayed Akshay is seen standing against an image of Lord Ram along with the following statement “let us endeavor to keep alive the ideals of Ram in the consciousness of Indians”. It was also captioned as “Myth or reality?”
While Abhishek Sharma directed the movie his company Cape of Good Films is the co-producer along with Amazon Prime Video, Abundantia Entertainment, and Lyca Productions. According to Akshay the film is a “bridge between generations past, present and future”. Ram Setu is the fifth of the movies of Akshay Kumar that got released this year.
