More than two months after late actor Sushant Singh Rajputs suicide, his girlfriend Rhea Chakroborty who is said to be a prime accused behind the actor’s death has broken her silence. And while her statements have made lots of things clear, she has also pointed out at how many have cashed on Sushant’s death and also exposed the late actor’s not-so-good relations with his family. In her interview to a news channel, Rhea also opened up about Sushant’s drug habit. Rhea revealed that Sushant used to smoke Marijuana even before he met her. While this revelation from Rhea has raised many eyebrows, it has also brought people’s attention to Bollywood’s drug nexus.
An actor consuming drugs is not something new about Bollywood, in fact, it’s a rather common practice. Remember, how sometime back a leaked video from Karan Johar’s party went viral as it showed many actors and directors from Bollywood namely Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Malaika Arora Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ayan Mukherji, Zoya Akhtar and many more looked in high spirits. While the video which was posted on Karan Johar’s social media created huge controversy, the filmmaker soon went on to rubbish all allegations that an MLA had put on these stars.
While Bollywood’s connection with drugs has been since long, it is often termed as a part and parcel of stardom. In fact, a singer once pointed out that doing cocaine is very common in the industry and a very evident part of their lifestyle. Well, some sources have also revealed how many celebs are spotted doing drugs at the backstage of some award functions. It is also said that a popular superstar often smokes up weed, and another superstars wife is rumoured to be smoking pot on a frequent basis. Not only this, but we all have also been aware of how Sanjay Dutt heavily depended on drugs in the early days of his career. In fact, in the film Sanju we also saw this chapter from the actor's life and saw how he took some rarest of drugs which landed him in a rehabilitation centre. There are many more actors who have indulged in drugs and continue to do so.
Now, with Sushant’s drug habit being confirmed by Rhea, actress Kangana ranut has also gone on to bring out some dark secrets of Bollywood. The actress recently said on Twitter, “I am more than willing to help @narcoticsbureau but I need protection from the centre government, I have not only risked my career but also my life, it is quiet evident Sushanth knew some dirty secrets that’s why he has been killed.”
In another tweet, Kangana also shared her personal experience and wrote, “I was still a minor my mentor turned tormentor used to spike my drinks and sedate me to prevent me from going to cops, when I became successful and got entry in to the most famous film parties I was exposed to the most shocking and sinister world and drugs, debauchery and mafia."
Like that singer, even Kangana revealed that cocaine is the most popular drug in the industry. She further tweeted, “Most popular drug in the film industry is cocaine, it is used in almost all house parties it’s very expensive but in the beginning when you go to the houses of high and mighty it’s given free, MDMA crystals are mixed in water and at times passed on to you without your knowledge."
Supporting Kangana in her claim, Sushant’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti has also requested the Government to provide security to the Manikarnika actress.
In this drug angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, it was also revealed that during ED’s probe into the late actor’s financial aspects it was revealed that drug was supplied to Rhea and Sushant many times. In fact, a picture of Sushant partying with a drug peddler has also surfaced online and this nexus between top Bollywood actor and drug peddlers now seems to be well exposed. Well, the NCB (Narcotics Bureau) will be looking into the matter, and people suspected will be questioned.
Even though the drug menace has been uncovered from Bollywood, drug abuse has been a national issue. While as per law it is illegal to possess, sell, or transport any narcotic drug, it continues to happen at the top level of our film industry. While there have been films made around drug abuse, the consumption is also quite high in the same industry. A UN report from 2019 had also stated how the use of drugs in India had increased by 30% per cent in a decade.
Rhea's statements have opened up many more possibilities behind Sushant Singh Rajput's death. Now it’s a wait and watch situation to see what nexus comes out between Bollywood and the drug lords, what new revelation does Sushant’s death case make, who all get exposed? Stay tuned!
