The actress is going to be seen in Alt Balaji and Zee5’s grand web-show Paurashpur. And her avatar in this show is going to be very different from what we have seen her doing otherwise.
Yes, while we have seen Shilpa as the sari-clad quintessential TV bahu, in this web-series Shilpa will be seen in a bold avatar as a queen. Not just this, she will be also seen doing lots of intimate scenes in the show. As Queen Meerawati, Shilpa’s character in the trailer of the show looks very striking. Let us tell you this is the first time a TV soap bahu will be seen in such a bold avatar.
Talking about Paurashpur let us tell you, that the show has a stunning star cast. Other than Shilpa, there is Annu Kapoor, Milind Soman, Shaheer Sheikh, Sahil Salathia, Flora Saina, and others. Let us tell you that the show is full of oomph, with sensuality oozing from everywhere. The story is about gender inequality and deals with love, lust, revenge, and gender politics.

While Shilpa is seen in a bold avatar, Annu Kapoor is seen as a misogynistic king who treats women as objects. Milind Soman on the other hand is seen as a transgender in a very striking avatar. The story is set in the backdrop of 16th Century India, telling the story of a Kingdom where women have no freedom of making any decisions. And it Shilpa’s character who challenges the King’s ways and plots against him. While she joins hands with the enemies of Paurashpur to murder the king, the web-show will keep you at the edge of your seat throughout.
Shaheer Sheikh and Sahil Salathia look stunning in the show, while there is something quite interesting about Milind Soman’s character too. Talking about the show, Shilpa told a newspaper, “I think most of the actors are always on the lookout for a show like Paurashpur. The show touches upon a lot of serious issues like patriarchy, gender politics, power, etc, which used to exist even in those days. I am delighted to be a part of an interesting show shot on such a grand scale.”
Well, after watching the trailer one thing is certain, that is, Paurashpur is the magnum opus of the web-space. The show is slated to release on November 29 and while the makers state that women power will win, how it wins amongst the layered gender politics will be interesting to watch.
