Senthil Balaji Arrest Update: TN Government Withdraws CBI Approval, Minister Remanded to Judicial Prison till June 28.

Breaking news regarding Senthil Balaji, a minister from the DMK party in Tamil Nadu. He has been detained under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Balaji, who is responsible for the portfolios of Electricity, Excise, and Prohibition, experienced chest pain after his detention. As a result, he was taken to the Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital in Chennai for a medical examination. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) considers him the main suspect in a cash-for-jobs case, alleging that he misused his position and orchestrated an employment scheme within the state's transport undertakings between 2014 and 2015, receiving kickbacks through his associates. This case is related to a job-for-cash scam that occurred during Balaji's tenure as the Minister of Transportation under the AIADMK government between 2011 and 2016. In March 2021, Chennai police initiated an investigation into the matter and filed a chargesheet against Balaji and 46 other individuals, including current and former officials from various transport corporations. The scandal revolves around a recruitment scandal that caused significant shock in the state during 2014-15.
