Schools, Colleges to reopen in Delhi from November 29

Schools and colleges to be reopened in Delhi from November 29.

The National capital will reopen physical classes for colleges and school-going children from Monday or November 29.  The schools were closed amidst rising air pollution in Delhi-NCR. News agency ANI quoted Delhi’s Environment minister Gopal Rai as saying, “Air quality in Delhi is improving now. Schools, colleges, educational institutes to re-open from 29th November in Delhi." Amidst the rising air pollution, the schools, educational institutes as well as were closed for a week.

A group of 140 parents of Delhi has written to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to seek his intervention regarding the reopening of schools. “Unfortunately, our children’s education was the first victim of the pollution response and school closures were announced on November 13 for one week. This has now been extended until further orders. While recognizing the enormity of the pollution crisis and the risk it poses to our children’s health, we strongly urge the Delhi government to reconsider this decision and reopen schools," the letter said.

On Sunday, the Directorate of Education (DoE) announced that Delhi's schools will remain closed for physical classes till further notice, while online classes and board exams will continue.
