Saudi Arabia Prohibits Travel to India and 15 Other Nations Amid Rising Covid-19 Cases

Saudi Arabia has banned its citizens to travel 16 nations as Covid-19 cases are surging again.

In the past few weeks, the cases of Covid-19 have seen a surge again. As a precautionary measure against the surging cases of Covid-19, Saudi Arabia has announced to prohibit its citizens from traveling to India as well as 15 other nations. 

The list of 16 countries that are banned to be visited by the nationals of Saudi Arabia includes the names of nations like Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Yemen, Afghanistan, Somalia, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, Libya, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus, and Venezuela, as reported by Gulf News.

No Monkeypox cases in Saudi Arabia 

In addition to this, the government of Saudi Arabia assured its citizens that no cases of monkey pox have been detected in the country. The Deputy Minister of Health for preventive health, Abdullah Asiri said, "Until now, cases of transmission between humans are very limited, and therefore the possibility of any outbreaks occurring from it, even in countries that have detected cases, is very low", quoted as saying by Al Arabiya.

Pandemic is not over, says WHO 

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that Covid-19 is "most certainly not over". Though the number of fresh cases being recorded is on the lower side it doesn't mean that the pandemic is over. 

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia detected 467 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the overall tally of infections in the country to 7,63,042. With 2 fresh fatalities on Sunday, the death toll has crossed 9,100.
