Sankashti Chaturthi 2021: Auspicious Time, Significance and other details

Starting on August 25 at 4:18 pm Sankashti Chaturthi will end on 26th August at 5:13 pm.

In the Hindu calendar, Sankashti Chaturthi holds a great significance. Every month, two different Chaturthi falls having their own significance. On the Sankashti Chaturthi, Vighnaharta Lord Ganesha is worshipped by devotees to keep away the troubles from their children’s lives.

Date and Auspicious Time

Also called Bahula or Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi, this year, Sankashti Chaturthi will fall on August 25. The tithi will begin on August 25 at 4:18 pm and end the next day i.e. 26th August at 5:13 pm. As per the Panchang, the moonrise timings for August 25 and August 26 is 8:50 pm and 9:19 pm, respectively.

The Significance 

As believed religiously, Lord Ganesha is worshipped by devotees through fasting on Sankashti Chaturthi for the long life, happiness, and prosperity of their children. Devotees believe that Vignaharta fulfills all their wishes, especially health-related troubles. 

Puja Vidhi

As per the traditions, mothers worship Lord Ganesha by observing fast on this day. The chanting of the Ganesh Mantra is also believed to be auspicious. Devotees wake up early in the morning to take a bath and do preparations for the puja. Meditation on this day is considered to be very effective. The devotees offer white or red flowers along with Durva to Lord Ganesha.
