Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet ministers will participate in Diwali puja to be held on November 4 at an event at Thyagaraj Stadium. The Delhi government is building a replica of the under-construction Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. As per officials, a 30 feet high and 80 feet wide replica of Ram Mandir is being built as part of the government's "Delhi ki Diwali" celebrations. In 2020, Kejriwal and his ministers offered prayers at the Akshardham temple.
The construction work is being done as per the instructions of the Deputy Chief Minister (Manish Sisodia) office. An event management company has been selected and a work order has been issued," a report in The Hindu quoted a source as saying. The move was part of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) election campaign in Uttar Pradesh. The AAP has announced that it will contest all 403 seats, where elections are due early next year.
Kejriwal had recently visited Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Ram and offered prayers there. Earlier this week, his government had announced the inclusion of Ayodhya among the pilgrimage sites of the Delhi government. The Chief Minister of Delhi said that the Delhi government will take senior citizens on a pilgrimage to Ayodhya free of cost. For your information, let us tell you that in a mall in Delhi, a statue was erected like a Ram temple, which people are coming to see from far and wide.
