96 year old Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral on Thursday after the longest reign of 70 years while spending summer vacation. The Queen took over the throne at the age of 21 in 1952 and witnessed magnificent social change under her reign. The members of the royal family gathered earlier in the day at Balmoral when the Queen’s doctor was worried about her health.

The eldest son of the Queen Prince Charles III was declared as the new king and his wife Camilla is the queen consort. He described his sorrow with a heavy heart: "We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world." He also mentioned while mourning that "comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held".

The Queen was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, in Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926. Elizabeth is the daughter King George VI. Elizabeth and her younger sister, Princess Margaret had to stay at Windsor Castle during the war between Bretain and Nazi Germany. After turning 18 Elizabeth learned basic motor mechanic and driving skills in the Auxiliary Territorial Service She got married with her third cousin, Philip, Prince of Greece, who was serving in the Royal Navy at Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947.The prince was titled Duke of Edinburgh.

The crowd waiting outside Buckingham Palace was filled with tears when they were informed about Queen’s death. The union flag on top of the palace was lowered to half-mast at 18:30 BST after which official notice was posted. Prince William and his wife, Catherine, became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Cornwall. IElizabeth engaged with the public through walkabouts, royal visits and attendance at public events. She never missed to visit a commonwealth country at least once.

Prime Minister Liz Truss had been appointed by the Queen on Tuesday said "provided us with the stability and strength that we needed". The ministry of state affairs declared the observation of a day of state mourning on September 11 in India as a mark of respect for the death of the Queen who had attended the Republic day event held in Delhi three times. The royal family is going to observe seven days of mourning after her funeral.
