PM Modi to dedicate new Parliament building to the nation on May 28th. Om Birla confirms it.

Om Birla reportedly met with PM Modi on Thursday and invited him to inaugurate the building worth multi-billion dollars. The building symbolizes ‘self-reliant India’ and has been constructed in record time with quality construction. The building is spread over 65,000sq mts, has two large halls for the functioning of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, a library, a state of the art Constitution Hall and also consists of offices for lawmakers and committee rooms for meetings. The building is worth rupees 970 crore. The Lok Sabha has a seating capacity of 888 and has a peacock themed design and the Rajya Sabha has 384 seat with a lotus motif. In case of joint sitting of both the houses, a total of 1280 members can be accommodated in the Lok Sabha chamber.

The PM had laid the foundation on December 2020 but the construction was delayed due to the Covid Pandemic.

The ruling BJP government will also celebrate its nine years of coming to power on May 29th. To celebrate the occasion several events will be conducted in the new building along with it upcoming Monsoon session will likely be held in July in the the new building.

The building is constructed by Tata Projects Ltd, it has 3 gates- Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar, and Karma Dwar but it will have separate entrances for VIPs, MPs, and visitors.
