PM KISAN Yojana: PM Modi releases 9th installment, transfers Rs 19,500 crore to over 9.75 crore farmers

Today PM Modi has released Rs 19,500 crore for 9th installment under PM KISAN Yojana. Know everything about the scheme.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred about Rs 19,500 crore virtually to over 9.75 crore beneficiaries farmers under the government's PM-KISAN scheme. So far, the government has transferred nine installments amounting approximately Rs 1.57 lakh crore to farmer families under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

The Prime Minister has  interacted with beneficiaries of this scheme from across the country after the installment is released. 

Under the PM-KISAN scheme an annual financial benefit of Rs 6,000 is provided to eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal four-monthly installments of Rs 2,000 each. The scheme was announced in February 2019 in the Budget. The first installment was transferred for December 2018-March 2019 period. The fund is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

Addressing the virtual event in the presence of the Prime Minister, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, "before the ninth installment, the central government had disbursed about Rs 1.37 lakh crore to around 11 crore beneficiaries under the scheme." 

Eligible Farmers

- Landholding farmers’ families with cultivable landholding can apply under this scheme

- Farmers from both rural and urban areas 

- Small and marginal farmers families

Benefits

Under this scheme, all landholding farmers’ families shall be provided an annual financial benefit of Rs. 6000per family payable in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each, every four months.

How to apply?

The farmers have to approach the local revenue officer (patwari) or a nodal officer nominated by the state government. The farmers can also approach Common Service Centres (CSCs) who have been authorized to do the registration for the Scheme upon payment of fees.

Farmers can also do their self-registration through the Farmers Corner in the PM KISAN portal. Basic details are required for the registration including Name, Age, Gender, Category(SC/ST), Aadhaar Number or any other prescribed documents for identification.
