Every year, as per the Hindu calendar, Nirjala Ekadashi is observed on the 11th lunar day of the waxing fortnight in the month of Jyestha. In a year, a total of 24 Ekadashi are observed however, Nirjala Ekadashi is considered the most significant among all the Ekadashis. On the day of Nirjala Ekadashi, devotees observe a waterless fast in order to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu.
Timings to celebrate the festival
In 2022, the Nirjala Ekadashi fast will be observed on June 10 and the timings for the Ekadashi tithi will start at 7:25 am on June 10 and it will continue till 5:45 am on June 11.

The significance of celebrating the festival
According to Hindu beliefs, observing a fast on Nirjala Ekadashi day provides you with the advantages of fasting on all the Ekadashis in a year. Observing fast on Nirjala Ekadashi is considered the most significant among all 24 Ekadashis of the year.
It is also called Bhimaseni Ekadashi because of a legend related to Bhima, the second sibling among the Pandavas as depicted in the awe-inspiring Mahabharat. Bhima, known for his unquenchable craving, couldn't keep fast on all the 24 Ekadashi days all through the year while all his different siblings were observing the fast. Maharishi Vyas suggested observing the fast on Nirjala Ekadashi. As per the holy person, the fast on Nirjala Ekadashi will offer him with similar advantages to keeping fast on all 24 Ekadashi days in a year. Since Bhima likewise kept fast on this day, Nirjala Ekadashi is known as Bhimaseni Ekadashi or Pandav Ekadashi.
