More than 75% Deaths during On-going Covid-19 Wave in Delhi were Unvaccinated, Says Satyendra Jain

The official data has shown that in Delhi, among the 97 deaths in the third wave of Covid, 70 people were unvaccinated, while 19 had received their first jab and 8 were fully vaccinated.

On Friday, Health Minister Satyendra Jain has said that more than 75 per cent people who died due to Covid-19 infection during the ongoing wave in Delhi were unvaccinated. He added that the city is likely to record less than 25,000 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday.

On Thursday, Delhi has reported 28,867 Covid-19 cases, which is the highest single-day spike till date, along with 31 deaths, while the positivity rate has reached to 29.21 per cent, as per the health department data. 

As per the official data, among the 97 people who died in Delhi due to Covid, between January 9 to January 12, 70 people were unvaccinated, while 19 had received their first jab and 8 were fully vaccinated, 7 were minors. 

The Health Minister said, "More than 75 per cent of the people who died due to coronavirus had not even taken a single dose of the vaccine. Ninety per cent of the people had severe comorbidities like cancer and kidney ailments. Even the seven patients below 18 years had chronic issues."  

Further, he added, "The hospitalization rate has become stagnant and the daily admissions have reduced. It is a matter of great relief."
