A major accident has happened on the Delhi-Lucknow highway in Moradabad at around 6 am on Monday. According to initial reports, a private bus plying between Punjab and Pilbhit collided with a truck from behind. The collision was so strong that both the vehicles overturned. So far 5 have died in the accident, while more than a dozen passengers got injured.
The injured persons have been admitted to Moradabad District Hospital. According to eyewitness accounts, there were about 50-60 passengers on the bus. The DCM Truck also carried about 20-25 people. The police are on the site and the matter is being probed by officials from the Pakbada police station of Moradabad.
"Our driver was stopped by the police. We were in the DCM pick-up. A bus was coming from behind. Three of our men have died - Ashish, Suresh and Nanhe. The other 20 are injured," said one Balram, one of the travellers on the truck.
"Five people have lost their lives. The injured have been rushed to the hospital. The death toll is being ascertained," SP, City, Amit Anand was quoted as saying by local reports.
