According to the reports, "the Southeast Asian nation has started reopening its economy gradually in the past few weeks as the Covid-19 infection rates dipped amid the vaccination programme. More than three-quarters of Malaysia's 32 million population have been vaccinated, says the vaccination statistics of the government."

As reported by Times Travel, in reference to the move, "former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Chairman of council tasked with spearheading Malaysia's economic recovery programme, informed that without foreign visitors the tourism industry was recovering but very slowly. He added that operators required time to resume businesses."

Further, Mr Muhyiddin said that the protocol to control the further spread of Covid-19 will be followed. However, the decision regarding the entry of travellers based on the Covid-19 situation in originating countries will be taken by the authorities.
