Makar Sankranti is one of the most auspicious festivals of the hindu culture and its celebrated with lots of pomp and fun. This festival is dedicated to lord ‘Surya’, it also marks the beginning of the crop cultivation season and people worship the new crop and share it among people with lots of love and happiness.
Makar Sankranti is celebrated in the month of January but it is hard to understand on which date Makar Sankranti will be celebrated in 2023.
This festival is celebrated a day after lohri and this year the day will be celebrated on 15th of January. This year the ‘punya kal’ of Makar Sankranti is from 7.15 A.M to 5.46 P.M and ‘maha Punya kal’ will start from 7.15 A.M in the morning and will end at 9.00P.M at night.
According to Hindu culture this festival is holy and in most regions it is celebrated for two to four days. During this time people take a holy dip in the river and people help the needy and to celebrate and have fun people fly kites and savor on a sweet made out of sesame seeds and jaggery.
