Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi attended the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra in Mandya, Karnataka today. Rahul welcomed the mother with a hand on her shoulder. After this, the women leaders present in the yatra took Sonia Gandhi's hand.
The Congress's nationwide campaign, which began in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari on September 7, entered Karnataka on September 30. Rahul Gandhi plans to walk 3,570 km through 12 states in his campaign to "unite India" and send a message against what he calls the "divisive politics" of the BJP. The Congress MP plans to travel towards the north after walking through three southern states.
After walking for about 15 minutes, Rahul sent Sonia back to the car. However, after some rest, Sonia again joined the walk. Sonia recovered from Corona a month ago. Her health has not fully recovered yet.
President Sonia Gandhi has joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra for the first time today. On this occasion, a picture is going viral in which Rahul Gandhi is seen tying his mother Sonia Gandhi's shoes.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who is running for president, shared the photo and wrote: "There are blessings even when she breathes, no one can replace a mother as mothers are mothers."
At one point, Rahul Gandhi was seen pausing and asking his mother to take a break. She climbed into a car but re-joined the march later. "We have weathered many a storm and will overcome all challenges. Together we will unite India," the Congress MP said in a tweet in Hindi and posted a photograph of him walking with his mother, his arm around her.
The 75-year-old joined Rahul Gandhi's march in Mandya, walked a short distance surrounded by a large crowd of slogan-shouting party workers before getting into a car. Later, she returned to the march. Sonia Gandhi arrived in the historic town of Monday afternoon for the party’s ongoing yatra in Karnataka. She joined the yatra and it resumes after a two-day break for Dussehra in Mandya.
The Yatra will pass through Karnataka for 21 days covering 511 km in the state. It began on September 7 from Kanyakumari and entered Karnataka on Friday after passing through Tamil Nadu and Kerela. The Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the 26th of its almost five-month journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
