Kaali Movie Poster Showing 'Smoking Kaali' Makes Fans Furious

In the poster, Maa Kaali is portrayed as holding an LGBTQ flag along with smoking cigarette. The poster has received controversies from the fans.

In the movie industry, everyone keeps trying to work with their creative mindset to present something unique to the audience. However, sometimes the unique flavors end up attracting controversies and fury from the audience instead of appreciation. The same scenario happened with the movie poster of Kaali. In the poster, Goddess Kaali is displayed smoking a cigarette while holding the flag of the LGBTQ community.

The Controversial Poster 

The poster was shared by filmmaker Leena Manimekalai. The documentary was released as a part of Rhythms of Canada at the Aga Khan Museum. While sharing the poster on Twitter, Leena wrote, "Super thrilled to share the launch of my recent film - today at @AgaKhanMuseum as part of its “Rhythms of Canada” I made this performance doc as a cohort @YorkuAMPD @TorontoMet @YorkUFGS Feeling pumped with my CREW." 


In the poster shared by Leena, a woman is displayed as Maa Kaali holding a trident with diamonds and jewels in one hand. She is also smoking a cigarette with one hand and from the other, she is holding the flag of the LGBTQ community. 

As soon as the poster went viral, the users get furious for displaying the goddess in such a way. An FIR has also been registered against Leena Manimekalai for misrepresentation of the image of the goddess and hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community.

Fans getting furious 

Furious from the poster, a user shared, "Today, Hinduphobic "Leena Manimekalai" announced to release her documentary "KAALI" in Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada. The poster and the content of the documentary is Hinduphobic and hurt the sentiments of Hindus around the globe. Defaming Hinduism is not acceptable." Another user wrote, "Maa Kaali with Flag of LGBT... and smoking cigarette. What kind of a twisted mind could think of this. Sometimes I regret being part of this degenerate and twisted world. Please spare our beloved Bhagwans and Maatas of your rotten imagination."
