Out of the seven satellites in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) constellation, known as NavIC, it weighed less than 1,425 kg .A magnificent attempt was made by Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO on Monday morning successfully.
ISRO launched the foremost of the second generation satellites for its navigation constellation. It is the heaviest of all satellites weighing 2,232 kg , launched by a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) rocket that raised GSLV-F12 on its 15th flight carrying navigation satellite NVS-01 successfully . At 10:42(IST),May 29 th, the rocket of height 51.7 metres lifted off majestically from the second launch pad at SDSC space port Sriharikota, about 130 km far from Chennai. On Sunday at 9 am , the final countdown starts at 10:41 (IST) May 29 ,for the launch of GSLV-F12 carrying NVS-01
LVM3 lifted off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota .
"LVM3 standing 43.5 metres tall and weighing 643 tonnes will lift off from the second launch pad rocket port in carrying OneWeb's final instalment of 36 Gen1 satellites", said the officials.
The chairman of ISRO ,S . Somanath, the director of SDSC , Rajarajan and the director of LPSC , V. Narayanan are present at the mission control complex to witness the glorious event. A video on IRNSS satellite constellation was also telecasted at the media centre of Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 10:18(IST), May 29.It is the fourth launch of this year of GSLV-F12/NVS-01.
It is reported that, the rocket,LVM3 is a three-stage rocket .Its first stage is fired with liquid fuel and the two strap on its motors is powered by solid fuel, the second by liquid fuel and the third has the cryogenic engine, LVM-III is 43.5 metre tall and its weight is 643 tonne. It may blast off from the second launch pad at the space port , Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 9 am. It carries OneWeb’s final instalment of 36 Gen1 satellites which weighs 5,805 kg, according to IANS report.
