On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the complete list of players who will undergo the IPL 2022 mega auction. The dates for the auction ceremony are also announced by the board as February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. With an addition of two fresh teams - Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad, BCCI has decided to have a grand ceremony this time. Out of 1214 players, a total of 590 players are selected .
The BCCI states, "amongst 590 players, 228 are capped players, 355 are uncapped players and 7 belong to Associate Nations."
The IPL franchisees
The 10 IPL franchisees – Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Team Ahmedabad have already announced to retain the players for the upcoming season.
The base price
The highest base price which is reserved for the auctions is INR 2 crore as 48 players have volunteered to place themselves under this category. 20 players have registered their name in the base price of INR 1.5 crore. Meanwhile, 34 players are in the base price of INR 1 crore.
The Players
Out of 590 players, 370 belongs from Indian whereas 220 are from overseas. From the overseas, Australia have highest number of players at 47, while West Indies 34 and South Africa have 33 players.
