In 2023, the Ministry of Ayush, along with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), organized the Yoga Mahotsav from March 13th to 14th at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium. Following the event, Yoga Workshops were held on March 15th at MDNIY. The theme for International Yoga Day 2023 is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' or 'Yoga for the Welfare of All as One World-One Family.'
Patanjali is often regarded as the father of modern yoga. The yoga logo symbolizes harmony and peace for humanity. The Sanskrit word 'yoga' is derived from the root word 'yuj,' which means "to attach, join, harness, or yoke."
International Yoga Day serves as a global platform to highlight the significance of yoga and its positive impact on overall well-being.
