Holika Dahan: Worship Holika Mata to get rid of Troubles

Worshipping Holika mata on Chhoti Holi leads to get rid of all kinds of obstacles from the devotees' life.

In the Hindu religion, the festival of Holi holds a significant place. This festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Beginning with Holika Dahan, festival of Holi is celebrated for two days, first day is Chhoti Holi or Holika Dahan and second day is the festival of colors, Dhulendi. In 2022, Holika Dahan will be celebrated on March 17 and Dulhendi will be played on March 18. 

When to celebrate? 

As per Hindu calendar, the Purnima tithi will start at 01:29 pm on March 17 and will remain till 12:47 am on March 18.

On March 18, Pratipadha tithi of Krishna Paksha will begin at 12:48 am. Holika Dahan will be celebrated on March 17.

The auspicious timings to celebrate Holika Dahan are from 9:20 pm to 10:31 pm. 

How to worship? 

As per Hindu beliefs, Holika mata should be worshipped before Holika Dahan. Worshipping her on this day leads to get rid of all kinds of obstacles from the devotees' life. On Purnima, devotees wake up early and take a bath. Then, visit the place of Holika and sit facing east or north. Create idols of Holika and Prahlad from the cow dung.

Now to begin with the rituals, clean your hands and offer holy water or gangajal to Holika. Devotees make the offerings of roli, akshat, flowers, turmeric, moong, batase, gulal, seven types of grains to Holika mata and Lord Narasimha. After completing the rituals, tie a thread around the Holika by taking for five to seven rounds.
