Former MLA Mukhtar Ansari convicted for 10yrs under the Gangster Act

5 time former MLA has been convicted to 10 years of jail time after finding him guilty for several cases that were on trial dating back to 1996.

5 time former MLA has been convicted to 10 years of jail time after finding him guilty for several cases that were on trial dating back to 1996. Around 49 cases have been lodged against him that includes land grabbing, extortion, murder etc.

In 1996, Ansari was charged under the Gangster Act who on 12 dec 2022 was finally found guilty for all the 5 cases. 2 of the cases were filed in Ghazipur, 2 in Varanasi and 2 in chandoli. The judgement was made after proper investigation, debate and statements made by 11 witnesses

The Ghazipur district administration had captured 2 plots of land of 1.901 hectares and priced at over 6 crores is alleged to have been bought through illegal earnings of Ansari. He has also come under the scanner of the enforcement directorate(ED), on Wednesday Ansari was presented in a local court in Prayagraj after ED found him guilty over a money laundering case. His son Abbas Ansari was arrested in November by the federal probe agency followed by Mukhtar Ansari’s brother-in –law, Atif Raza. The money laundering case begun when FIR’s were lodged by UP police along with that FIR’s were made against a company named Vikas constructions that was run by Afsan Ansari, wife of Mukhtar Ansari.

Ansari was charged with 5 cases under Gangster Act, Rajendra Singh murder case, Mala Guru murder case number 106/88, Awdesh Rai murder case number 149, constable Raghuvansh singh murder case number 294/91 and attack on police officers in Ghazipur , case number 165/91.

Mukhtar Ansari is locked in banda jail and will serve time along with his partner Bheem Singh for 10 years
