TV Actor Anupam Shyam has passed away in Mumbai today at the age of 63 due to multiple organ failure. The actor was suffering from kidney ailment for the last few years. He was hospitalised about a week ago to the critical care unit of a city hospital. However, on Sunday his health deteriorated.
Actor Yashpal Sharma, a close friend of Anupam Shyam, told indianexpress.com that the veteran actor died at Lifeline hospital, Goregaon around 1.30 am. “I just returned home from the hospital. The doctors informed us he died due to multiple organ failure. His body will be brought to his residence, New Dindoshi, MHADA colony, at 5-6 in the morning, followed by the funeral later during the day around 11:30-12 PM.”
He has shared with ANI, "I got to know that he’s no more. So we rushed here and found he was still breathing. The doctor later declared him dead. He was hospitalised for 4 days. He had high blood sugar and used to take injections during shooting of his last film."
Rajan Shahi, producer of Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2, shared in a statement, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Anupam Shyamji. May his family get all the strength to sail through these difficult times. I remember when we started with Pratigya season 2, he was extremely happy to work again and play his favourite character Sajjan Singh. He was always so lively and full of enthusiasm and will be remembered for his remarkable performances. May his soul rest in peace.”
Earlier, Anupam Shyam had faced a bad health condition last year, his brother had appealed for financial aid.
His career in Hindi film began in 1996 with Shyam Benegal’s Sardari Begum. Later, he starred in films like Dil Se, Satya, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Zakhm, Dushman and Slumdog Millionaire and many more.
Apart from this, he started his television career with Benegal’s Amaravathi ki Kathaye. His role as Thakur Sajjan Singh in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya (2009-2012) gave him fame. He has also played roles in shows such as Rishtey, Doli Armaano Ki, Krishna Chali London and Hum Ne Li Hai- Shapath.
