With the construction of Delhi-Katra Expressway, the distance between Delhi and Katra will be diminished to 588 km. Along with this the travel time will be decreased by 5 hours. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken the initiative to build Delhi-Amritsar-Katra corridor in a move to further develop a better connectivity between the two areas.
According to the reports, a 670-km greenfield expressway venture will associate Bahadurgarh border in Delhi with Katra via Nakodar and Gurdaspur in Punjab.
Vaishno Devi is one of the pilgrimage sites which is visited by the pilgrims on a large scale. Allegedly, currently it takes tourists approximately 12 hours to reach Katra from Delhi. However, with the the said corridor it will be decreased by 40 km of the distance between the destinations which will be saving five hours of travel.
Additionally, with the help of this corridor, pilgrims will also be able to reach Amritsar from Delhi in less than 5 hours.
The Katra-Delhi Express Road will cover few significant heavenly towns and urban communities. Apart from Vaishno Devi, and Amritsar, other significant places that will be falling along the course are Jalandhar, Kathua, Kapurthala and Ludhiana.
