In Kachchh, Gujarat, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and
Gujarat Governor Bhupendra Patel carried out an airborne reconnaissance of the
areas hit by the storm.
"Not even one casualty related to #CycloneBiporjoy was
reported. According to Shah, the way the Gujarati government and federal
agencies collaborated to save lives during the hurricane is a perfect example
of collaboration.
The Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other top
bureaucrats will meet with the Home Minister during his visit. Soon after
landing in Kutch, the Union Minister would examine the devastated areas from
the air before meeting with residents of shelter homes.
Shah will then travel to Mandvi to meet those impacted by the
disaster. Shah will next travel to Mandvi to see those affected by the cyclone
before travelling to Bhuj's Swami Narayan Temple to examine the food supplies
and other amenities being offered to those in need.
Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall on Thursday night about 10 km
north of the Jakhau Port in Kutch, Gujarat. It had its origins in the Arabian
Sea and had raced over the west coast of India.
