India reported 28,204 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest in 147 days (since March 16), taking the overall Covid-19 tally to 3,19,98,158, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday. The number of per day deaths linked to Covid-19 infections has dropped below 400. With 373 fatalities in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 death toll reached to 4,28,682, the health ministry said.
The active caseload of Covid-19 cases in the country has dropped to 3,88,508, the lowest in 139 days. The national Covid-19 recovery rate has also improved to 97.45%, which is the highest ever recovery rate achieved, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
From Monday, schools in Delhi are reopened for classes X to XII.
The Maharashtra government announced the reopening of physical classes in schools in both rural and urban areas from August 17.
Uttar Pradesh government has announced to reopen schools for intermediate students from August 16.
The Odisha government had already reopened schools for students of classes 10-12 on July 26.
Meghalaya is also about to reopen educational institutions for students after mid-August.
Recently, Karnataka has announced to resume offline classes for students of Class 9-10, and for pre-university college students from August 23.
