Covid-19 updates: 91,702 new cases, 3,403 deaths

India has recorded 91,702 new active cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

On Thursday the deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded at 3,403. Tamil Nadu remains the highest contributor with 16,813 cases. Active cases have dropped further to 11.21 lakh.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said that his country had contributed “more than any nation” to the global vaccine-sharing effort ‘COVAX’. “We’ve supported (vaccine) manufacturing efforts abroad through our partnerships with Japan, India and Australia, together known as the Quad,” he said in a recent press briefing.

According to the June 10 data by the health ministry, over 33 lakh individuals received their Covid jabs. The latest Monthly Economic Review by the Union Finance Ministry says that nearly 70 crore citizens must be vaccinated by September this year in order to fully open the economy.

As per the data of Union Health Ministry, 18,64,234 and 77,136 beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group received their first and second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Cumulatively, 3,58,49,328 people in the 18-44 age group across states and union territories have received their first dose and 4,84,740 beneficiaries have received their second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive on May 1. Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal have administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to more than 10 lakh beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group, the ministry said.
