Flipkart's Big Billion Day sale is live with the e-store giant being in the news for bumper discounts on a range of products. However, some other not so good reasons have also attracted attention including cancellation of orders or delivery of wrong products.
One such incident has been shared by a Delhi man who ordered a laptop from ecommerce website Flipkart during the ongoing Big Billion Days Sale has claimed that the online retailer sent him packets of Ghadi detergent instead.
IIM-Ahmadabad student, Yashaswi Sharma who shared the event on LinkedIn, wrote that he ordered the laptop from Flipkart during the company's Big Billion Days Sale. They discovered that the shipment included packets of detergent bars once they opened it.
In his post, Sharma stated that his father, who was unaware of Flipkart's Open Box Delivery concept, had received the box. In an Open Box Delivery, the delivery person opens the package in front of the customer to make sure the correct item has been delivered, according to Flipkart. According to e-commerce, this protects the consumer from becoming a fraud victim.
When Yashaswi Sharma contacted the customer support executive, they blamed his father for sharing the OTP without reviewing his order. "Despite this, Flipkart’s senior most customer support executive says: No return possible. Your father should not have given OTP without checking the laptop. This is our final stance. This matter cannot be escalated further," he wrote. He has also tagged Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy and Union Minister Piyush Goyal in his post.
In this case, Sharma claims that his father shared the OTP with the delivery agent without checking as he was not aware of the policy. “He assumed OTP was to be given upon receiving the package as is usual for prepaid deliveries so he gave it when the box was delivered, “Sharma wrote in his LinkedIn post.”
In its response, Flipkart said, “once the details of the incident were verified, our customer service team initiated a refund that will be credited within 3-4 working days. We have identified the issue and have also initiated action against the errant party.”
This matter is being raised vigorously on the Internet.
