Six Assam Police personnel have died in firing with their Mizoram counterparts, Assam BJP MLA Kaushik Rai said on Monday. Rai, who visited the Silchar Medical College, where the injured have been admitted, said that at least 40 people, including three to four civilians, were injured.
“40 people including 3-4 civilians were injured. According to doctors, 6 policemen have died. The Chief Minister has directed Minister of State Piyush Hazarika to visit the border area.
As reported by News18 on Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will pay his homage to the cops, who lost their lives in the border clash on Monday night, in Silchar. He landed in Silchar and first headed to meet the injured police personnel at the hospital, a night after the bloody conflict broke out at the Assam-Mizoram border, killing five police personnel and injuring around 60 cops.
Official notified, "At least five Assam Police personnel were killed while defending the constitutional boundary of the state with Mizoram and more than 60 people injured, including an SP, as the festering border dispute between the two northeastern states erupted into a bloody conflict on Monday."
