Anshula Rao fails dope test, got four year ban

First women cricketer Anshula Rao got four year ban because of failing in dope test.

Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Anshula Rao became the first women cricketer to be handed a four-year ban after failing the dope test.

As per the TOI report, the authority’s Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) has noted that Anshula has “knowingly and intentionally” consumed the prohibited drug to enhance the performance. The ADDP has punished the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder.

She is a registered player with BCCI. Affiliated with MPCA, she featured for BCCI’s women’s under23 T20 tournament in 2019-20. She was found guilty of using the banned drug on March 14 at Baroda in 2020. She had failed to give a proper explanation of how the drug substance entered her body.

While handing a four-year ban, the Anti Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) has concluded that the presence of the prohibited substance is "established beyond doubt" and noted that "in the present case the athlete failed to explain how the prohibited substance entered in her body and hence she failed to take the reasonable care as expected from an athlete."
