Athletes today are scared because of the corona. Parents of junior athletes are always afraid to send them to training camps. But we don’t need to be afraid of the Corona, we need to be careful and focus on fitness. This is the time when we have to strengthen ourselves mentally. I won the National and was selected for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. A checkup was done before the games when my health deteriorated and it was found out that I have only one kidney since birth.

I was very scared, but I wanted to win a medal for the country. I explained to myself that I have done so much training. I will not give up now. The coaches and parents encouraged me. Succeeded in winning bronze medal in high jump at Commonwealth Games. After that my confidence increased. The government and the Athletics Federation of India also cooperated.

From the camp to the competition, there were different arrangements for me. In that year, in South Korea, Busan also managed to win a gold medal in the Asian Games. The doctor said 6 months bed rest. But representing the country in world athletics is the dream of every athlete. Mine was too I recovered myself in 20 days. Succeeded in winning bronze. However, due to a kidney, more care had to be taken. Had to take more fluids. Many times there was swelling.

I still exercise caution. Focus on fitness. I go to the academy every day and guide the athlete. I believe we need to be careful, not afraid of anything. Our body also adjusts. Don't be afraid of the corona epidemic, but fight it and be careful.
