On Sunday, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the new international sports complex in Naranpura, Ahmedabad. A one of its kind project will be completed in the next 30 months on 20.39 acres of land at an expense of Rs. 631.77 crore.
The infrastructure of the stadium will offer a center for sports excellence, an aquatic zone, a community sports center, an indoor multipurpose hall, and a fit India zone. The stadium will be built in order to provide training in different Olympic sports.
The aquatic zone in the complex will have two Myrtha pools, one will be used for hosting water polo and swimming competitions and the other pool with a seating capacity of 1,500 will be used for conducting competitions. Apart from the swimming pools, there will be six badminton courts, carom, table tennis, and 10 tables for snooker and billiards.

While sharing his thoughts on this occasion, the Union home minister Amit Shah expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting permission to allocate funds for the development of the sports complex. He said, "Ahmedabad is getting ready for the Olympics. Sardar Patel Stadium, Naranpura Sports Complex, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad is becoming the sports city of Gujarat and preparing for the Olympics."
Further, he added, "Naranpura is my workplace. I asked PM Modi for Rs. 500 crores for a world-class level sports complex and PM Modi immediately gave the grant. I promise you, this area of Gandhinagar will be the most developed area."

On this occasion, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sports and Youth Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also shared their views.
Anurag Thakur said, "This is a sporting facility at par with Olympic training centers in the world and this has been possible owing to the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the efforts of Shri Amit Shah."
