Aligarh Hooch Tragedy: People lost eyesight due to Poisonous Liquor Case

A massive destructive and deadly case happened in Aligarh because of poisonous liquor.

People getting dead or ill because of poisonous substances in liquor seems like becoming a trend these days. Uttar Pradesh has always been in news for the poisonous substances in liquor. It's the sixth time within an year where lives have been snatched by alcohol.

22 people have died, many people have lost their eyesights and 6 accused have been arrested in Aligarh. The case has been reported on Thursday from the Lodha area when a person fell ill after consuming the spurious liquor. 

Affected areas of Aligarh are Rait village, Karsua, Andala, Havatpur, Fatehpur, Sujapur, Chherat village. Aligarh Additional District Finance and Revenue Legislative Assembly member Jaiswal said that "Under the Chief Minister Krishak Accident Welfare Scheme, financial assistance of 5 lakhs will be given from the administrative level to the deceased residents of the district."

Excise officials have sealed the godowns in the Lodha area. Agra Zone ADG Rajiv Krishna said, "We have information that 12 people dies after allegedly drinking poisonous liquor and many are being treated. The police, along with administration and members of the Excise Department, are carrying out raids. The main accused, Anil Chaudhury, was arrested. We are looking for two more accused."

Five Excise officials of Aligarh have been suspended from their duties due to negligence. Aligarh DM Chandra Bhushan stated that, "We will be making more raids. We are also looking to initiate NSA proceedings against the accused and will also be invoking the Gangster Act against them."
