Due to the glacier in Chamoli in Uttarakhand, the administration has been asked to remain alert in the districts along the Ganges. High alert has been issued in Bijnor, Kannauj, Fatehgarh, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Ghazipur, Varanasi of UP.
16 people have been rescued that were stuck in the tunnel. Other than this 25 more people have been rescued by the ITBP.
Due to the massive destruction, contact with more than a dozen villages has been lost. In such a situation, ration will be given during relief rescue work, which will be transported to villages by helicopter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees to the families of the dead, four lakh rupees from the Chief Minister. Apart from this, the main focus of the government is still on relief rescue work.
The government of Uttarakhand has also directed to investigate how the glacier was broken. Because the weather was clear, there was no natural warning of any kind, in this case scientists will study it.
